I WAS RIPPED OFF

See this restaurant? I am boycotting it – I want to take out a full-page ad in the New York Times. I ordered a Coke and got a 6,27€ Pepsi. I have had Cokes before and they were 3,00€ or less.

Wish I had checked the Internet before I went -- this place got some bad reviews -- a $7.00 Pepsi was a RIP-OFF!
Yesterday I took the metro down to the marina area. I made up for the financial gouging by having breakfast (toast and coffee) for 3,80€. It was supposed to rain, but it was only overcast in the morning. Nothing really comes alive at 8:30a.

The vendors were starting to set up at 11:30a.

Explored the marina:

Took the picture I promised you on the front of the Christopher Columbus Monument. He might have been a good sailor, but he sure needed a navigator.
On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus set foot on the fine white sands of an island in the Bahamas, unfurled the Spanish royal standard and claimed the territory for King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Although Columbus thought he was in Asia, he had actually landed in the “New World.”

Many of you commented how clean the city appeared. Now that it was brought to my attention, I see green people frequently and also all day long.

They were outside a building close to where I was eating my cheap breakfast – don’t know what they were guarding. These are not the city police in the taxi cab matchy uniforms. I will say one thing – I see many city police patrolling Las Ramblas as I walk. Kind of takes the fun out of it for a lot of the people who make their living by pickpocketing.

In the southern part of Las Ramblas there are many artists who are selling their masterpieces that are not hanging in the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

Zoom, zoom

There are 68 museums in Barcelona; I didn’t go into this one. The only one that interests me is the Joan Miro Museum.
The wax museum of Barcelona is a private museum which includes a large collection of more than 200 wax figures of real and fictional people. It is located in the former headquarters of the Banca de Barcelona, in a building dating from 1867.

I did go into the museum store and got a little tempted on a couple of items, but kept myself in check. This was not an item that I would buy, but I liked the idea.

This is a drinking fountain down by the marina. I couldn’t find any information on it so maybe they don’t consider it a fountain. This is the front:

This is the back:

There is a continuous relief that is telling some story.

The sun finally came out about 1:00p; I got home in time because by 3:30p it started doing the dribbling rain thing.
