Time to start venturing out. I made a run yesterday from my metro station (Liceu) to the station at the Plaza Catalunya.

Shown below is the Barcelona metro map you use to plan your route with the TMB and FGC metro transport system. The map shows both TMB, FGC and TRAM lines in Zone 1 which cover the city centre. TMB lines are L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and FGC metro lines are L6, L7, L8 along with the Tram Lines (T1 to T4). TMB (stands for Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat) are different operating companies however combined they form the Barcelona Metro system.
As a rule of thumb you can estimate your transit time by counting the number of metro stops on your route and multiplying this number by 2 minutes. Include a waiting time of 5 minutes. If you need to change add an additional 5 minutes to your final value for each change.
To travel from Liceu (Green Line, L3) to Sagrada Familia (Blue Line, L5) there are 5 stops plus one change at Diagonal. Therefore total travel journey time is approximately is: 5 minutes (waiting at Liceu) + 10 minutes (2 minutes x 5 stops) +5 minutes (Change at Diagonal) = Total 20 minutes travel time.

TRUST ME, ONCE YOU CATCH THE HANG OF IT, IT IS A PIECE OF CAKE!
C&A is a clothing store in Barcelona

It is nothing compared to the El Corte Inglés Department Store in Plaza Catalunya.
El Corte Inglés Department Store is a Spanish institution that began in Madrid. Now with many stores throughout Barcelona, the one in Plaça Catalunya remains the largest. It is Barcelona's answer to Selfridges or Macys. If you are looking for anything from make up to electrical goods to a tin of beans they can all be found in El Corte Inglés.

I used the metro when I was here before and loved it. There are 141 stations and the metro covers 64 miles – that is getting you around town. As you walk to Las Ramblas from my place you are right at the Liceu Station.
Single price tickets 2,15€ ($2.42); you really want to buy the T10 card which gives you 10 tickets and brings the price down to $1.12/each.
I am not a shopper so I didn’t go into any of the two large stores. I didn’t need to because I could do shirt, shoe and purse shopping just as I got off the train.

One of the disadvantages of the metro is it is all underground and you can’t see anything as you are getting to your destination. Within the next couple of days, I plan on doing the On/Off Tourist Bus.

Too bad I didn’t rent an apartment in Bangladesh – the remaining four bananas were disposed of in the trash.
